Indesatchel - Press Release

Bearstone Stud announces that Indesatchel, a dual Group winner and runner-up in the 2005 Poule d’Essai des Poulains, will retire to Bearstone Stud in 2007.

The four year old son of Danehill Dancer, trained in Ireland by David Wachman, was a smart two-year-old winning his maiden race at the Curragh and finishing third in two Group 3 races, the Anglesey Stakes and Round Tower Stakes. The following spring he completed a hat-trick of victories, including a comfortable success at Newbury in the Greenham Stakes and a six length triumph in the Tetrarch Stakes at the Curragh. A fortnight later he came from a long way back in the straight to be a fast finishing head second to Shamardal in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains at Longchamp. By the end of that season he had earned a Timeform rating of 120 and was the joint-third top rated Irish three year old colt with 2,000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand.

Indesatchel’s sire, dual Group 1 winning two-year-old, Danehill Dancer, has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years in both hemispheres with Choisir, Where Or When, Speciosa and Miss Beatrix among his best European performers.

Indesatchel was bought by his trainer for €72,000 at Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and is the third foal of the Petorius mare Floria, who has also produced two other winners from two runners. Floria herself is a daughter of the Group-placed two-year-old, Candle Hill, a sister to the smart sprinter, Springhill and half-sister to Listed winner, Spring Haven.

Terry Holdcroft, owner of Bearstone Stud, commented “We are delighted to be bringing such a high-class son of an outstanding stallion to Bearstone Stud. He was a Group horse at two and, with a little more luck in running, would have been a classic winner over a mile at three. The Danehill sire line goes from strength to strength and we expect him to prove very popular with British breeders.”

Indesatchel will join Firebreak, Mind Games and Reel Buddy at Bearstone Stud. A stud fee will be announced later.
